Queer Collections

Queer Collections is a series of interviews and photographs exploring the eccentric and specific manners of collecting within self-identified queer folks. Many of these collections register as art, while revealing tremendous amounts about character. The objects we collect and hold dear indicate aspects of our identity—vulnerabilities, anxieties, joys and fantasies. Queer Collections celebrates this, getting to the bottom of such burning questions as what makes the perfect painted quarter? The most appealing Cub Scout uniform? The ideal alchemist’s suitcase?

Photographer Tristan Crane and writer Zoe Rosenblum interviewed 18 individuals from a wide range of backgrounds for this project, exploring the meaning and reasons for their collections while creating a striking visual archive of their objects which reveal far more than the objects themselves.
